Keith R. Elliott

September 27, 1928 — May 8, 2009

Keith Richard Elliott was born September 27, 1928 to Otis Richard and Mary Lorena McClellan Elliott at Wamego, Kansas. He departed this life of 80 years,7 months, and 11 days early Friday morning, May 8, 2009 at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas after a courageous battle with cancer.

Keith moved with his family to the Aurora community in about 1929. They later moved to the McClellan farm east of Glasco. He attended Glasco High School.

On September 26, 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was an airplane and engine mechanic and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on July 20, 1949.

On January 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to JoAnn O'Connor at Osborne, Kansas. Seven children Lorena, Richard, Suzann, Roger, Ryan, Robert, and Rebecca were born to this union which was later dissolved.

A jack of all trades and master of quite a few, Keith did a number of things during his working life. He was a truck driver for several years, and in the early 1960's lived in Beloit where he was a mechanic at Beloit Motor Company. In 1966, he became employed at the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America booster station east of Glasco, moving his family to Glasco a short time later. During his twenty year tenure at the 'station', he worked in a number of capacities while farming and ranching. Following his retirement, he was employed at McDonald-Roberts Funeral Service as a funeral assistant until his death.

A kind hearted though very strong willed person, Keith never knew a stranger. He believed in serving others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, regardless of the hour, and for many years was an EMT for the Glasco Ambulance Service. Keith had a great love for life and nature, cherished the time he spent with his family, was a devout NASCAR fan and loved attending area stock car races, frequently commenting, the louder the better.

He enjoyed attending the Delphos Lions Club meetings.
