Kenneth W. Fromm, age 93, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit. He was born on October 24, 1925, in Emporia, Kansas to Henry and Lillian Kohman Fromm. With both parents being of full German descent, he and his brother Eugene were raised in several German communities in the Flint Hills. Kenneth graduated from Saffordville High School in 1944 and was drafted into the Army at age of 18. He served as a radio operator during World War II, serving in the Philippines and Korea until November 4, 1946, after receiving many decorations and citations.
He married Doris Moffet on March 19, 1948, and they had two daughters, Diana and Linda. After graduating from Kansas State University, Ken served as a 4-H agent in McPherson County and as a County Agricultural Extension Agent in Lane and Finney Counties. He spent the last 20 years in Mitchell County completing over 30 years in extension work. While serving as an agent, he received his Master's Degree of Education from Colorado State University in 1964.
Kenneth was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Beloit beginning in 1965. He served many years as a lay leader, active in Bible studies and taught Adult Sunday School until the age of 91. He had a deep and unwavering love for God and was eager to share scriptures and His love for others.
Kenneth was active in the Beloit community serving on the Tree Board from 1973 to 2006 and was a Rotarian for over 40 years. Kenneth and Doris were active in the square dance community during their 71 years of marriage. They enjoyed attending annual reunions with his extended family celebrating his German heritage. In his free time, he could be found on the golf course with his friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; brother Eugene Fromm of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Diana Wendell and husband Joe of Hutchison, Kansas; Linda Harris and husband Norm of Powell, Ohio; 5 grandchildren: Jeremy Wendell, Kelly (T.J.) Ulmer, Adrienne (Scott) Felts, Holly (Jim) Thomas, Drew Harris and 12 great grandchildren: Grayson and Hailey Wendell; Brendan, Aidan, and Kaylan Ulmer; James, Jacob and Autumn Thomas; and Melina, Jude, Micah, and Levi Felts.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM Saturday, May 25 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM with family present from 6-8 PM Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Church or the Disabled War Veterans.
