Kenneth L. Hurley was born August 24, 1945 in Concordia, Kansas. He passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 75. He went to school in Republic, Kansas, and later attended Fort Hays State.
Ken got excited every year in December about going to Fonner Park in Grand Island to start training horses. This was something he wanted to do since he was a small child. He loved farming the land that has been in his family for years.
When he was diagnosed with COPD and as he grew worse, he had to make a difficult decision to retire from training horses and farming. Ken relied on friends to help train the horses he and his spouse owned. He hired someone else to do his farm work.
He enjoyed being able to watch his horses run on the computer. Thank goodness for technology.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Hurley, mother, Loretta Hurley, Brother, John Hurley Jr., and sister, Darlene Thomas.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Hurley; daughter, Lisa Sander (Troy); son Jeff Hurley (Rebecca); sisters-in-law, Susan George (Johnny) and Diana Kessler (Mike); five grandsons, two great grandsons, one great granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, June 21 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
