Larry Gene Naumann was born March 10, 1942 to Clarence Benedict and Vivian N.Z. Sinclair Naumann at Delphos, Kansas. He departed this life of 65 years, 9 months, and 3days Thursday evening, December 13, 2007 at the Ottawa County Hospital in Minneapolis, Kansas.
Larry attended Glasco High School where he graduated in 1960. He continued his education for two years at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.
Larry married Sandra Koelling, and two children Steven and Wendy were born to this union which was later dissolved.
Engineering and designing things were always on Larry's mind, and he was an engineer and design technician for Bucher, Willis, & Ratliff of Salina for about 20 years. He took great pride in the buildings he was instrumental in designing including the Salina Bi-Centennial Center. This position required him to travel, and he lived in a number of places including Salina and Abilene. He later became a telecommunications line designer for several companies including Sprint.
On December 19, 1994, he married a longtime friend Jewell Margaret Chapman, and they made their home in Glasco.
A down-to-earth, easy going person, Larry had a lot of passions in life. Besides his work, he was a big sports fan, loving all of the Cleveland teams. NASCAR was a favorite of his, as was camping and fishing. In later years, he enjoyed keeping in touch with his friends by email. His friends will always remember his funny, quick witted sense of humor. Above all, his family was his greatest joy, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Joyce Wilmarth, two great grandchildren Tristan and Rylan McMillan, and his beloved dog Cujo.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Jewell of the home, one son Steven Naumann and wife Jennifer of Glasco, one daughter Wendy Walker and husband Don of Glasco; stepsons Gary Liby and wife Dollma of Beloit, David Liby and wife Carrie of Glasco, Scott Liby of Glasco; step daughters Connie McMillan and husband Bruce of Randall, Becky Bellows and husband Edd of Glasco, Pattie Darnall of Concordia; one brother William Nauman and wife Sharlene of Glasco; 19 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. In addition, Larry will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Glasco Christian Church with Pastor Dennis McAlister officiating. Burial will follow in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation. Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church.
