Larry Sanford Walker was born on October 25, 1938 on the family farm near Beloit, Kansas, the son of Horace and Grace Strawn Walker. He died early Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 81.

Larry grew up in the Beloit area, and graduated from Beloit High School in 1956. Following graduation, he attended Kansas State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was an educator for several years, but farming was always a part of his life, and he spent most of his years on the farm. In addition to farming, he was a successful businessman, owning and operating several businesses with his wife over the years. When not working, he always enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard.

He served as the treasurer for the Mitchell County Historical Museum, as well as the school board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen "Susie" Walker of the home; his son, Michael and his wife Jennifer of Apex, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Jace, Olivia, and Ashton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Private family graveside services will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery near Beloit. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday, October 14 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Historical Museum or Post Rock Humane Society.
