Leo Edward Emmot was born on April 7, 1918 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Alfred and Carrie Wrench Emmot. He died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit at the age of 99 years, 6 months, and 25 days.
He grew up and spent most of his life in Beloit, attending country grade school before graduating from Beloit High School. From 1942-1945, he served in the United States Army.
On June 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ruby Faye Lee at the home of her parents, and made their home on a farm south of Beloit. They were privileged to spend more than 62 years of marriage when she died in February, 2008.
Leo spent most of his life as a farmer and sheep producer, but also had a great love for wood carving and attending flea markets with Faye. He was also very proud of the barn that his grandfather built on the farm, in which many dances took place.
Although he didn't have children of his own, he loved his family, and treated his nieces and nephews and their families as his own.
Leo was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife Faye, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob and his wife Donna.
He is survived by his nephews, Dan and his wife Drusilla of Beloit and John and his wife Glenice of Colorado Springs, and a host of relatives and friends.
