Leola A. Tipton

Leola Ardella Tipton was born August 3, 1920 to William and Hattie (Lee) Tipton on the farm near Webber, Kansas. She died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at her home in Brownsville, Texas at the age of 92.
She attended elementary school at Valley View, north of Webber and two years of secondary at Webber High School. Following her mother's death in 1936, she and her younger sister Nyla finished their school years in Glasco, where she graduated with the Class of 1938.
Following graduation, she and her older sister Wilma attended summer sessions at Ft. Hays State University. Leola taught school for four years in a rural elementary school south of Glasco.
After attending business school in Salina, she worked for a time in the Cloud County Courthouse. In 1945, Leola moved to Kansas City, where she worked for TWA in the inventory control department. She began work with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in 1947, and later retired from the company after 36 years in the accounting and treasury division.
In 1998, Leola moved to Brownsville to be near her sister Nyla. Her many hobbies included traveling the United States and abroad and studying family history. She enjoyed entertaining friends and her many nieces and nephews enjoyed coming to her home and spending time with her.
Leola was preceded in death by her older siblings, Wilma Irene Blake and Wayne LaVerne Tipton.
She is survived by her sister, Nyla Hall of Brownsville, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 29 at Dean Funeral Home. There will be no visitation - the body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Glasco.
