Leon F. Krier

January 10, 1928 — December 16, 2015

Leon Francis Krier, the second son of Joseph John and Matilda Ann Moritz Krier was born January 10, 1928 on the family farm east of Tipton, Kansas. He departed this life of 87 years, 11 months, and 6 days Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas.

Leon attended Lone Hill public school and graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1945.

Leon and Betty Maxine Golladay were united in marriage on November 19, 1983 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas. They made their home in Tipton until 1991 when they moved to Beloit.

Leon was a farmer and stockman and the owner of Krier Farm Supply for over 50 years. Leon kept a map of Kansas and the United States and put a pin where he sold a trailer; he was proud of the fact that he sold trailers in all four corners of the United States, Mexico and Alaska. He also kept a slip of paper as to how many trailers he sold.

Leon liked to travel. He and Betty had been to Nova Scotia, Germany, France, Switzerland, and to South America through the Panama Canal.

He was baptized into Christ at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton and served on the Parish Council. He was a dedicated member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of Tipton. After moving to Beloit, he was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In addition, he also was a member of the former Beloit Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Matilda Krier; brothers Joe and James Krier; sisters Louise Miller, Vange Donabedian, and Elmarie Mick; several nephews & one niece.

Leon will be deeply missed by his wife Betty of the home, his sister Carol Schroeder- Dahlsten and husband Dave of McPherson; sister-in-law Kathy Krier of Omaha, Nebraska; a host of nieces & nephews & great nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial following in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. John's Education Fund. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home at which time Leon will be taken to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where the Parish Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M.
