Leonore (Lee) Gordanier was born February 4, 1932 to John and Esther Brindle of Courtland, Kansas. Lee grew up the youngest of seven children. She attended Courtland schools and graduated from Courtland High School in 1950.
Lee married Albert (Neil) Gordanier, her husband of 64 years in 1952. They began their married life in Colorado where Neil was stationed with the Army, then moved to Wichita in 1953 where four sons were born – Gary, Charles, John and Jeffrey. Lee was a homemaker and a devoted mother. When the boys were in school, she worked as an administrator for an insurance company.
The family moved to Randall, Kansas in 1967. Lee went to work at the Randall Bank in 1970 where she worked for 24 years, until she retired as the bank's cashier. She loved working at the bank and the daily interactions with fellow employees and customers. Lee loved everyone she worked with, but was especially close to Genevieve Johnson, Jill Ramsey, John Herbin ("the best boss in the world") and Leon Johnson.
After Lee and Neil retired, they fulfilled Neil's dream and became "winter Texans". For eighteen years they traveled to southern Texas where they enjoyed the warm weather and took many trips to the beach and occasionally into Mexico. When at home in Randall, Neil and Lee spent many hours rocking in their front porch swing. The past few years they lived in the League City, TX to be near their son Gary and his family.
Lee is survived by four sons, Gary and wife Jane, of League City, TX, Charles of Kansas City, KS, John and wife Kimie, of Tehachapi, CA, and Jeffrey and wife Cindy, of Lenexa, KS; two sisters, Nina McClure of Oklahoma City, OK and Daphne Rushing of Liberal, KS, and a brother, Jack Brindle and wife Susie, of Lake Charles, LA; three grandchildren, Kimberly Buttrum and husband Jon, and Kayla and Joshua Gordanier; two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Brooks Buttrum; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lee was preceded in death by her husband Neil; her parents; and three sisters, Doris Corbin of Engelwood, CO, Carol Johnson of Courtland, KS, and Gladys Ross of Formoso, KS.
