Leroy John Brummer was born on November 29, 1955 in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Robert and Anna Marie Spohrer Brummer. He died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 50 years, 10 months, and 4 days.
He grew up and attended school in Osborne before graduating from Osborne High School in the class of 1974.
On September 11, 1976, he was united in marriage to June Frasier in Burr Oak, Kansas. Four children were born to this union.
Following their marriage, they lived in Beloit, where he worked for the CO-OP and Boettchers. He ran an engine repair shop at his home for four years, and then worked for Eric Dunstan Trucking, SMX Trucking, and Mike Shamburg Trucking.
Leroy always enjoyed fixing things, especially anything that had an engine. He also loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with his kids. He had a "corny sense of humor" and always enjoyed a good joke.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Beloit.
Leroy is survived by his wife, June of the home; three sons, Jerod of Abilene, Jeremy and his wife Ashley of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jonathan of Beloit; one daughter, Shawna Handke and her husband Luke of Boston; his father, Robert of Osborne; his father-in-law, Richard Frasier of Burr Oak; two brothers, Leon and his wife Jodie of Osborne, and Eugene and his wife Julie of Salina; four sisters, Margaret Henningsen and her husband Vail of McPherson, Mary Jane Newingham and her husband Don of Salina, Bobbie Strawn and her husband Reagan of McPherson, and Kay Shannon and her husband Herb of Inavale, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, October 6, at the First Christian Church in Beloit with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given for the Family Expense Fund. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit.
