Leta Adams

August 28, 1938 — February 24, 2017

Leta Mae Adams, the youngest of ten children of Irl Spurgin and Louella Binkley Snyder, was born August 28, 1938 at Atchison, Kansas. She departed this life of 78 years Friday morning, February 24, 2017 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.

Leta moved with her large family to Montrose, Kansas when she was a very small child. She attended school in Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School in the Class of 1956. After graduating high school, Leta worked for a short time as a nurse's aide in Beloit.

Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life Kenneth Dean Adams, and it was love at first sight. The two were married on April 20, 1958 at the Montrose Methodist Church. Together, she and Kenneth began their married life living in Coursen Grove also known as Adams Station, and to this union were born seven children.

Leta learned how to drive in Kenneth's '57 Chevy and became very resourceful on the farm. She loved her large family and enjoyed making them clothes, often matching outfits, and spent many happy hours crocheting countless treasures. Leta was an avid reader and loved working Sudoku puzzles.

A devout member of the Barnard Baptist Church, Leta had a deep, abiding relationship with the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through numerous struggles in life including the loss of three children and her illness.

Leta was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Leroy Snyder, June Joslin, Erma Dunstan, Robert Snyder, Glenn Snyder, Gene Snyder, Olive Intermill, a son who was born silent, daughter Deana, and infant son Darrell Eugene.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Kenneth of the home; children Jerry Adams and wife Sharolyn of Wakefield, Patti Yetter and husband Sutherland of Wichita, Darrell Adams of Kensington, Denise Henson and husband Dave of Derby; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Adams (Kristi) of Coursen Grove, Wade Adams (Amanda) of Houston, TX, Jansen Yetter of Wichita, Jessica Duntz (Collin) of Wichita, Jake Henson (Kelsey) of Emporia, KimbraLee Adams of Kansas City, KS, Kenni Henson of Derby; five great grandchildren: Oakleigh, Quinn, and Logan Adams, Jaxen and Lucas Duntz; many relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.
