Lila L. Mihm was born on the family farm near Simpson, Kansas on October 15, 1927, the daughter of Earl and Julia Rathbun Freeman. She died on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas at the age of 93.
As a lifetime resident of the Simpson area, she grew up and attended school in Simpson before graduating from Simpson High School.
On August 19, 1960, she was united in marriage with Gene Mihm, and two sons, Dennis and Jerry, were born to this union.
Lila raised her family and helped on the farm. In her spare time, she loved working in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. She also enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and playing Bingo. She and Gene also loved going to dances together at Bohemian Hall and area Moose Lodges. She and Gene could also be found at many ballgames, as they were avid followers of their children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church and Simpson Community Church, as well as the Simpson Senior Citizens Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Forrest, Laverne, Corwin, and Ansell.
Lila is survived by her loving husband Gene; two sons, Dennis and his wife Amber of Beloit, and Jerry and his wife Diana of Salina; four grandchildren, Hannah Hattabaugh, Kellin Bouray and husband Klay, and Khylie and Mya Mihm; one great-grandson, Owen Bouray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family-only funeral services will be Saturday, December 12 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit, & a public graveside service will be at 11 AM Saturday at Greenmound Cemetery near Asherville. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Nicol Home.
