Linda Sue Hohner
Linda Sue (Susie) Hohner, age 52 passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born on September 3, 1957 to Raymond and Shirley Hayden in Beloit, Ks. After attending Beloit High School, Linda then married Rod Hohner of Kensington, KS. Linda lived most of her life with her husband and children in Kensington. After the dissolution of the marriage, Linda moved to Beloit to be closer to her parents and siblings in the area. Linda worked her entire adult life as a Certified Nurse's Aide, taking care of others in various nursing homes and home health agencies before ending her career as a nurse's aide, working for Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems. Linda moved in with her daughter in New York to spend time with her distant grandchildren when she became ill and was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently moved back to Beloit 6 months later in order to be near her family and friends during her struggle with cancer. Linda enjoyed attending large family events, playing practical jokes on family and friends, crocheting blankets, hats and scarves for her grandchildren, developing lasting friendships at work, playing the game of Nerts and most importantly spending as much time as possible spoiling her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her parents, Raymond and Shirley Hayden of Beloit. Her children Michael Hohner and wife Sandi of Topeka, Jennifer McMurdo and husband Ron of Fort Drum, NY, Jnell Eck and husband Michiel of Glen Elder, and Mat Hohner and wife Ashley of Kensington. Her siblings Cindy Motes and wife Danny of Beloit, David Hayden of Beloit, Tim Hayden and wife Helen of Asherville, Larry Hayden and wife Vicki of Beloit, Pat Stanton and husband Rick of Monette, MO, Barbara Hayden of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Karen Havel of Silverton, OR, Dawna West of Concordia, Tracy Hayden of Beloit, Sandy Gerber and husband Ted of Beloit, Troy Hayden of Lawrence and Ginger Rose of Concordia. Her grandchildren Joshua and Justin Hohner, John and Emily McMurdo, Ryan, Austin, and Madison Eck, Nichalus and Taylor Hohner and Haley Gormely also survive. Step Grandchildren Tucker, Alexis and Mercedez. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pastor Patsy Koeneke of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kensington officiated at the Memorial Services which were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 7, 2010 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Burial of Linda's ashes was in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund.
