Linda R. Sheppard
Linda Ruth Sheppard was born September 21, 1947 to Bill and Darlene Teasley Bowles at Beloit, Kansas. She departed this life of 63 years, 3 months and 13 days late Wednesday evening, January 5, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas.
Linda and her family moved to Colby. She later met and married Kenneth Sheppard on October 31, 1963 at Gem, Kansas. After their marriage, they lived for a time in Oakley and later moved on to New Jersey before returning to the Colby area. They made their home in Salina and finally settled in Beloit in about 1990.
They were the parents of two children Craig and Kevin.
An honest, forthright person, Linda had no enemies. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening, and was a devout NASCAR fan, her favorite being #2 Rusty Wallace. She enjoyed collecting NASCAR memorabilia.
Linda's greatest passion though, was playing golf. She and her husband enjoyed playing together. As a team member, Linda was always looked to for her putting expertise.
Linda will be deeply missed by her husband Kenneth of the home; sons Craig Rouse and wife Carmen of Sarasota, Florida, Kevin Sheppard and wife Meredith of Salina; her parents Bill and Darlene Bowles of Jewell, one sister Karen Bowles of Beloit, brothers Edward Bowles of Beloit, Allan and wife Terry of Emporia and Andy Bowles of Salina; three grandchildren Cary Rouse, Kristen and Carissa Sheppard.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 10 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday a the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice.
