Lisa Dawn Cordel was born on June 30, 1955 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Jerry and Janet Reeves Van Pelt. She died on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home in Beloit at the age of 58 years, 5 months, and 24 days after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Lisa grew up and attended schools in Beloit. Following her high school graduation, she went on to attend both Oral Roberts University and the University of Oklahoma, and earned her Master's Degree. She went on to teach in California for several years, and later moved back to Beloit in 1996. She taught many students in the 3rd Grade Class at St. John's Elementary School, and she also started the AP Reading Program at the school.
On January 14, 2006, she was united in marriage with Robert Cordel.
She enjoyed traveling, and she especially loved spending her free time scrap booking for her kids and all of their various activities.
Lisa was a member of the Beloit First Christian Church, and was very active in several bible study groups through the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her daughter, Allie; her two sons, Kevin and Matthew; two sisters, Candy Spicher and Connie Long; and her brother, Jeff Van Pelt and his wife Angelica; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 10 AM Saturday, December 28 at the Beloit First Christian Church. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the St. John's AP Reading Program or the Church.
