Lois Pearl (Rarick) Bean, 93, was born on August 28, 1920, in Bovina, Colorado to Eldridge and Ida Eberle Rarick. She died on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
She graduated from Bovina High School in 1938 and then attended Fort Hays State University for a year. After receiving a teaching certificate, she taught at Brown's Creek in rural Jewell County for a year, at Silver Arrow in rural Cloud County for a year, and in Arriba, Colorado for a year.
She met her husband, Dan Bean, while teaching at Brown's Creek. They were married on June 4, 1944, in Hugo, Colorado. They farmed on the Bean family farm until 1962 when they moved to Beloit. She was a farmwife for most of her life; in later years, she was also a paraprofessional in the Beloit Schools until 1985.
She and her husband were blessed with four sons, Monte, Murray, Max, and Mark. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Beloit where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dan in 1991, her sisters Ellen Carlson and Eunice Rarick and her brothers John and Newell Rarick, and a grandson Monte Dan Bean.
She is survived by all four sons and their spouses, Monte and Ileen of Beloit, Kansas, Murray and Janet of Oakley, Kansas, Max and Susan of Glen Elder, Kansas, and Mark and Jennifer of Glen Elder, Kansas, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, her brother Charles of Flagler, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., all at the McDonald Funeral Home.
