Lola Jean Campbell was born November 27, 1929 to Lawrence Hobart and Gladys Piland Young at Macksville, Kansas and departed this life of 84 years on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
Lola grew up in Macksville where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at Fort Hays State University and it was there that she met her future husband, Bill Campbell. She received her degree in General Science.
On December 24, 1950, Lola and Bill were united in marriage at Macksville, Kansas, and to this happy union were born three children Carol, Tim, and Christi. Bill was a teacher with strong farming interests, and they first lived in Concordia before moving to Beloit in about 1956 and made their home at 1320 North Chestnut.
Always happy, upbeat and smiling, Lola loved life. Her family and home were her greatest treasures in life. She loved music, was an accomplished pianist and was a charter member of the Allegro Music Club. In addition, she was a great seamstress and made clothing for herself and her family. Always kind, loving, and nurturing, she was truly there for her family.
A devout Christian, Lola was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir and was active in the United Methodist Women.
Her parents, one sister Lorna Wicks, and one brother Carl Young preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Bill of Beloit; children Carol Thompson and husband Bob of Palmer, Alaska, Tim Campbell wife Debbie of Windber, Pennsylvania, Christi Campbell of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother Keith Young and wife Mary of Bridgeport, Texas; two sisters Delores Pitts and husband Charles of Fort Worth, Texas, Grace Moe and husband Peter of Rapid City, South Dakota; a beloved sister-in-law Cleone Stewart of Wichita; three grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 17, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Brackett officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church or the Diabetes Foundation.
