Lola Geraldine Topliff was born January 19, 1925 to Leo and Ruth Knickerbocker Benschoter at Falls City, Nebraska. Her release from a lengthy illness came Monday, April 18, 2011 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 30 days.
"Gerry" as she was known by all, grew up in Falls City. She married James Henninger on March 10, 1943 and to this union was born one son, Donald Lee. James died in 1975. She later married Elwyn Topliff on April 29, 1989 and he died on July 14, 2007.
Gerry was a homemaker, and from 1977 until 1987 worked for Mutual and United of Omaha Insurance.
Gerry's focus in life was on her relationship with the Lord. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 8 and then was scripturally baptized. She was a member of First Christian Church, attended Metallic Bible Study and formerly belonged to the Gideon's Auxiliary. In addition, she was a member of the Brown's Creek Garden Club.
Her parents and husbands James Henninger and Elwyn Topliff preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her son Donald Henninger and wife Diane of Omaha, Nebraska; step son Harold Topliff and wife Susan of Jewell; one brother John Benschoter and wife Martha of Sun City, Arizona; grandson Mark Henninger & wife Sara, Evergreen, Colorado. Shelli Sittler & husband Neil, Seattle, Denver, Colorado; step grandchildren Angela Panek, Aaron Topliff, Adam & Jennifer Topliff, Amy Topliff; great grandchildren Asher & Ezra Sittler, Denver Colorado step great grandchildren Carter topliff Emily & Krista Trent; nephew John Benschoter & wife Laurie and great-niece Meghan, niece Nancy Kozak & husband Brock and great-nephew Jack; & many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at First Christian Church with burial following on Friday at Steele Cemetery, Falls City, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the church. Visitation will be from 9 AM until 8 PM Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
