Lola Maxine Sanders was born to John and Fannie Miller on November 30, 1922, south of Glen Elder.
She departed this life Tuesday evening, May 30, 2006 at Bishop Davies Nursing Home in Hurst, Texas. She was 83 years and six months old.
Lola spent her early years on the family farm in Kansas. She graduated from Ionia High School.
On June 20, 1940 Lola was united in marriage to Wilfred Ray Sanders in Smith Center, Kansas. Four children, Melvin, Roma Lea, Gary and Jerry were born to this union.
Lola and her husband lived in Colorado for a short time before moving to Glen Elder, Kansas in 1943. Lola was a beautician for many years. She continued cosmetology when she and Red moved to Colorado in 1970.
After Red passed away in 1989, Lola enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends before she settled down in Texas in 1995. Lola loved to dance, play Bingo and win at KENO.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Red; and two brothers, Loren Miller and Richard Miller.
Left to mourn her passing are Melvin Sanders and wife, Marian, of Colorado Springs, CO; Roma Lea Kallsen and husband, Robert, of Lowell, AR; Gary Sanders and wife, Junor, of Henderson, NV; Jerry Sanders and wife, Karen, of Euless, TX; and one sister, Doris Bartley and husband, Leland, of Esbon, KS.
She will be greatly missed by 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 6, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Memorials may be given to Bishop Hospice.
