Loretta M. Anderson

Loretta Marie Valeka Anderson was born June 28, 1941 in Palisade, CO. She was the fourth of seven children born to Frank and Florence (Pixler) Valeka. Loretta passed away October 4, 2016 in Lindsborg, KS.

Survivors include her daughter, Katie Kent of Lawrence, KS; son, Greg Hanel (Lois) of Beloit, KS; two grandchildren, Brooke Kent and Cody Hanel of Lawrence, KS; and one sister, Janice Harris.

She worked on the farm with her husband, Neill Hanel until she later ran the bar in Clifton, KS. She not only raised her kids, but she kept busy feeding cattle, hogs, sheep, horses, and of course the family. She also worked at Gilmore and Tage in Clay Center with Neill for a few years.

After getting divorced, she had several new experiences, trials, and tribulations, working in housekeeping and nursing homes until she retired in the late 2000s.

Rita was raised in Burr Oak, KS, and lived in Cuba and Clifton most of her adult life until moving to the Lindsborg area.

Rita was a hard worker, doing everything she was capable of to make a better life for her kids, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also had a love for dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack, Jerry, Norman, and Roger Valeka; and sister, Naomi Buttman.

Graveside memorial services will be at 11 AM Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Clyde. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation.
