Loretta Elaine Silsby was born October 4, 1942 to Hubert Raymond and Lolita Mae Beanblossom Silsby at their home in Burr Oak, Kansas. She departed this life early Thursday morning, June 13, 2013 at her home in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 70 years.
At age four years, Loretta came down with a severe case of whooping cough that would change the course of her life. Loretta's father was a depot agent for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad, and the family moved frequently. Loretta and her mother settled in Beloit in 1975.
Despite her handicap, Loretta made the very most of her life. She cheerfully assisted her mother with keeping the house in order and took an active role in raising her brothers and sisters. She was a production worker at OCCK. She loved to bowl, do embroidery projects and was especially fond of happy, upbeat music including her favorites by Elvis. Loretta enjoyed watching sporting events and looked forward to following the KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Royals every season. Above all, Loretta had a keen memory, did not know a stranger, and truly had a smile for everyone.
Loretta was a faithful member of the Beloit Church of Christ.
Her father preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her mother, Lolita Silsby of the home; her beloved siblings Barbara M. Gale and husband David of McPherson, Joe G. Silsby and Lesley Brancaccio of Topeka, Mark A. Silsby and wife Janet of Minneapolis, MN, Deborah Wiles of Beloit, Robert W. Silsby and wife Lisa of Cawker City; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, June 17, 2013 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in Burr Oak Cemetery.
