September 9, 1926 — March 28, 2012

Louise Marie Cotter was born September 9, 1926 to Michael Francis and Elizabeth Grelinger Cotter on a farm south of Beloit, Kansas. Her Heavenly Release from a lengthy illness came late Wednesday evening, March 28, 2012 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas. Louise was 85 years of age.

She attended a nearby country school and then graduated from St. John's High School in the Class of 1944.

Louise felt a calling to help care for the sick, and she, along with her older sister Margaret took the train to Sabetha, Kansas where they attended St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing and both graduated as Registered Nurses. After graduation, Louise and Margaret worked side by side and quickly established a reputation for providing the ultimate nursing care in a kind, caring manner, always exercising the utmost dignity and respect, and this reputation would serve them long after their careers were over. During their distinguished career, they worked at St. Anthony's Hospital in Sabetha, St. Joseph's Hospital in Concordia, Kansas and the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. In November, 1971 they began working at Hilltop Lodge and retired in about 1995. Louise, along with Margaret, were highly regarded as mentors by their students.

Louise loved going to the family farm, gardening, and growing flowers. She was an excellent cook and prided herself in cooking for the family.

A devout Catholic, Louise faithfully attended Mass and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit.
