Lucile Marie Wiles was born January 16, 1923 to Henry and Thelma Richner Snavely in Huscher, Kansas in Cloud County. She was the first born in a family of four. She died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 86.
As a youth, Lucile attended Huscher School District 57 of Cloud County, Concordia Junior High, and Downs High School. She was baptized at an early age in the Huscher Methodist Church, and became a full member at the Cawker City United Methodist Church in 1979.
Lucile was united in marriage with John Melvin Winkel. Five children were born to this union, which was later dissolved.
On March 16, 1964, she was married to Pharus "Bud" Wiles.
She worked as a machinist at Richardson Manufacturing Company for five years, was owner/operator of the Northside Café for 15 years, and was a part owner and bookkeeper with her husband at Wiles Appliance and at Lakeside Lodge.
Lucile served as the first female President of the Commercial Club in 1971, and treasurer for the Senior Center for 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Barbara K. Krein; one sister, Evelyn Myers; and one brother, Edward Craig.
Lucile is survived by her husband Bud of the home; two sons, Patrick Winkel and his wife Marian of Greenwood, Missouri, and Michael Winkel and his wife Colleen of Pratt; two daughters, Mary Terry and her husband Richard of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Jan Myers and her husband Jim of Lee's Summitt, Missouri; one son-in-law, Don Krein of Connell, Washington; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Bronson of Wichita; four nieces and nephews; many close relatives in the Wiles family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 10 at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Wednesday and from 11:00 AM to service time Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church.
