Lucille Zimmerman
Lois Lucille Zimmerman was born on August 26, 1911 to E. F. and Mable Williams Woodard of Glen Elder, Kansas.
She departed this life of 99 years Wednesday evening, March 9, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit after a rather lengthy illness.
Lucille, as she was known, attended High Prairie District No. 67 School south of Glen Elder and graduated from Glen Elder High School in the Class of 1929. Lucille at that time attended High Prairie Church that was later destroyed by fire.
After high school, Lucille obtained a teaching certificate and taught school for one or two years in a country school near Glen Elder. After moving to Beloit, she became a member of the First United Methodist Church. For many years she was the Selective Service Clerk for Mitchell County, Kansas.
In 1931, Lucille married Floyd F. Green and together they had two sons, Leland F. born in 1933 and Larry J. born in 1941. This union was later dissolved and in 1951 she married Math Zimmerman of Beloit.
Lucille is leaving behind her two sons Leland and wife Nora of Glen Elder, two great grandchildren Tanner and Taylor Wright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Larry Green and wife Betty of Mesa, Arizona along with their adopted son Darren Demel and Michelle Mueller of Wichita, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Floyd F. Green in 1978, her second husband Math Zimmerman in 1991, her grandchildren Chris Alan and Cynthia Ann Green-children of Larry and Betty (Sorrell) Green on June 1, 1985; and Sabrina Lee Wright, daughter of Leland and Dawna (Clawson) Green on December 8, 2008.
Lucille loved sewing, cooking, and of course her grandchildren as long as they were on this earth.
After Math's passing in 1991, Lucille began going to Diamond Campground in Woodland Park, Colorado, staying in her camper for the entire summer. There, she made many friends from all over the United States. She continued camping every summer through the summer of 2007. Lucille will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends from all over the United States.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Fogo officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice. Friends may call from 11 AM until 8:00 PM Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
