LV Prewett, age 85 of Beloit, passed from this life on October 18, 2012. He was born April 28, 1927 in Beloit, KS to Ernest S. and Alice E. Prewett. LV spent his early childhood in Beloit and Washburn, ND.
He graduated from Beloit High School in 1946; he was active in football, track and basketball. He attended Fort Hays State College. On April 27, 1950, he and Myrna Lea Jamison of Quinter, Ks were united in marriage. They raised their family in Glasco, KS where LV worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Company. He later transferred to Perryton, TX, Beatrice, NE, and Dumas, TX. In 1977, LV took a job with the Alyeska Pipeline and moved to Anchorage, Alaska. He and Myrna enjoyed the Alaska experience – salmon fishing and traveling in their motor home. LV retired in 1992 and they moved back to Beloit. He was baptized in 1959 at the Glasco Methodist Church, and was a member of United Methodist Church of Beloit.
LV took pride in and religiously tended to his garden-his tomatoes were a coveted item. LV was a great craftsman; he could build or repair almost anything. He spent a lot of time tinkering in his shop. When he was able, he loved to hunt, trap, and fish. He spent many hours bowling and playing golf. LV loved watching sports, especially Jayhawks basketball.
Surviving is his wife Myrna of Beloit; daughters Leanna (Chuck) Dagley of Anchorage, AK, and Denise Wallman of Lincoln, NE.; sons Doug Prewett and Lee (Crystal) Prewett both of Lincoln, NE and Les (Cindy) Prewett of Anchorage, AK, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brothers John (Maxine) Prewett of Lincoln, KS, Richard "Dick" (Betty) Prewett of Arkansas City, KS, and a sister Mary Miller of Overland Park, KS; sisters-in-law Nellie (Robert) Kepferle of Quinter, KS and Lilly Zeman of Wakeeney, KS; and any nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Beloit followed by burial of the cremains in Greenmound Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Church or Solomon Valley Hospice. There will be no visitation - cremation has taken place.
