Lyle E. Mcpeak

October 31, 1925 — October 27, 2005

Lyle Eugene McPeak was born October 31, 1925 on a farm south of Glen Elder, the son of Arlie and Martha Lick McPeak. He died October 27, 2005 at his home in Glen Elder at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 27 days, just short of his 80th birthday.
Lyle grew up south of Glen Elder and attended Rose Valley Country School before graduating from Glen Elder High School with the Class of 1943. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
On September 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Shirley Miller in the Downs Methodist Church. Three sons were born to this union. They were privileged to spend more than 56 years of marriage together.
After their marriage, the couple lived on farms south of Glen Elder. Lyle worked as an electrician for Cecil Boehner for several years in addition to his farming. In 2001, they moved to town.
Lyle was very active, and enjoyed serving the public as well as spending time with his friends. He loved farming and working with his livestock, and greatly enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
Lyle was a member of the Glen Elder United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 143, VFW, School Boards for 22 years, a Charter Member of Lions Club, the VoTech Board for 6 years, the ASC Board, the Farm Bureau Board for 8 years, and he served as Mitchell County Commissioner from 1984 to 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Herbert "Bud."
Lyle is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; three sons, Steve, Marty and his wife Carla, and Barry and his wife Darcel, all of Glen Elder; four grandchildren, Michelle Dubbert and her husband Ron of Deshler, NE, Jeff and his wife Lindsay of Lincoln, NE, Kelly of Manhattan, and Mackenzie of Glen Elder; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Brenna Dubbert; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, October 31, at the Glen Elder United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the church or the Glen Elder Community Club Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
