Mabel M. Broadbent

Mabel Marie Broadbent, the daughter of Fred and Katherine Walters Golladay, was born March 9, 1915, at Beloit, Kansas. She died December 23, 2006, at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 91 years, nine months and fourteen days.
Mabel grew up on the farm and attended country school. On September 3, 1936, she was united in marriage with Dick E. Broadbent at Concordia and one son was born to that union. After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm southwest of Beloit until 1959, when they moved to town. They had been privileged to spend 67 years of married life together at the time of Dick's death in 2003.
Mabel was a "home body" who enjoyed her home and time spent with her family.
Survivors include her son, Jerry and wife, Janice Broadbent of Jewell; two grandsons, Terry and wife, Brooke Broadbent and Jay Dee Broadbent; and four great grandchildren, Matthew, Drew, Brecken and Claire Broadbent.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Floyd Golladay and a sister, Neva Wagner.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
