Margaret Irene Chapman, the daughter of Ben and Blanche Krizek Srna, was born August 29, 1916, at Delphos, Kansas. She died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 10 days.
Margaret grew up in the Delphos area. She attended the District #47 Country School and graduated from Delphos High School with the Class of 1935. After graduation, she taught at District #47 for two years and at District #55 for a year.
On June 8, 1940, Margaret was united in marriage with Boyd B. Chapman at Concordia, and one daughter and one son were born to that union. The family made their home in Glasco where Boyd worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline for 39 years. The couple had been privileged to spend 42 years of married life together at the time of Boyd's death in 1982.
Margaret was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Glasco Senior Citizens, and Z.C.B.J. Lodge #203 of Glasco.
Survivors include her daughter, Jewell Naumann and her husband, Larry of Glasco; a sister, Donna Rupert and her husband, Steven of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and five great great grand-children.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Galen Boyd Chapman; a sister, Marie Ballou; and a great great grandson, Tristan McMillan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 11, at the Glasco Christian Church with burial in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church or the Nicol Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Dean Funeral Home in Glasco.
