Margaret Elizabeth Kent, 96, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008. She was born July 25, 1911 to David Wilbert and Sarah Lansing (Dales) Ghormley in Hutchinson, KS. She was a homemaker and worked with her late-husband, Wilbur, in farming at Beloit, KS. They retired in 1975 to Sanibel, FL, and in 1991, Mrs. Kent moved to Shell Point Retirement Community of Fort Myers, FL. In Beloit, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Minerva Club, of the P.E.O. sisterhood, of the Order of Eastern Star (O.E.S.), and was Grand Chaplain of the O.E.S. Grand Chapter of the State of Kansas. In Fort Myers she was a member of Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers Beach, FL, and of the P.E.O. sisterhood.
She was known as "Peggy" by her friends, and like her mother was a warm, outgoing, and lighthearted person. We miss her positive and loving way of living. She is survived by three children: Dales M. Kent (Round Rock, TX); Judith D. Daugherty and Bud Kent (both Fort Myers, FL); by four grandchildren: Afton Kent (Round Rock, TX), Andrew Kent (Bryan, TX); Melissa (Daugherty) Perlinger and husband, Kurt (Fort Myers Beach, FL); Ilse Elizabeth (Daugherty) Levins and husband, Jason, and by a great granddaughter, Zoe Elizabeth Levins (Del Ray Beach, FL).
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 22, 2008 at McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial of the ashes in Elmwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to Hope Hospice at Shell Point or donor's choice.
