Maribelle J. Keller

December 24, 1925 — December 28, 2012

Maribelle Jean Keller was born December 24, 1925 to Lawrence Dewey and Margaret Cynthia Davis Anderson at her grandfather Davis' home on the east edge of Glen Elder, Kansas. She departed this life of 87 years and four days Friday morning, December 28, 2012 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.

Maribelle attended school in Glen Elder, graduating from Glen Elder High School in the Class of 1944. Maribelle took normal training and became a school teacher, having taught at Center, Granite Creek, Hunter, and Cawker City. It was while teaching in Hunter that she met her future husband, Harold.

On January 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harold Ernest "Ham" Keller at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Two sons Ray and Max were born to this happy union and they made their home on a farm near Hunter. They enjoyed traveling with friends and tours to many destinations across the country and even to Jamaica and Canada. Branson was one of their favorite destinations. They were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001.

A vibrant, people loving person, Maribelle treasured her family and home. She worked in the Hunter Post Office for 30 years and was Post Master for many of them. Maribelle and her husband played a vital role in the community of Hunter, always decorating the town for Christmas. Quieter moments were happiest spent reading the newspaper, watching KU and North Carolina Basketball games on tv.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide. She also enjoyed membership in the BlueBirds.

"Ham" died on March 25, 2007. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons Ray Keller and wife Shelly of Sylvan Grove, Max Keller and wife Kally of Hunter; one sister Marjory Kresin of Glen Elder, five grandchildren Lacey Keller of Brooklyn, New York, Morgan Keller of Manhattan, Lee Keller of Manhattan, Levi Keller of Topeka, and Mitchell Keller of Manhattan; and a host of many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 31, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter with Pastor Matthew Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Union Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church. Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
