Eunice Marie Holloway passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
She was born April 10, 1912 at the family home on a farm northeast of Cawker City in Erving Township, Jewell County, Kansas to Joe and Mary Caroline (Callie) Rhoads Wierenga. Marie attended White Swan rural school, graduated from Athens Rural High School in the Class of 1929, and taught school for three years.
On May 7, 1932, she was united in marriage to Charles Willis "Bud" Holloway at Manhattan, Kansas. Two daughters Marilyn and Kay were born to this happy union. They made their home on a farm in Jewell County until 1950 when they moved into Beloit.
While in Beloit, Marie enjoyed working for the late Paul Wills at Wills Fabric in downtown Beloit. She loved sewing and took all of the alterations and sewing home where she enjoyed doing them to perfection.
A friendly, outgoing and people loving person, Marie enjoyed her family, friends, and home. She went to great lengths to always have things at their best, be it her appearance or her spotless home. Marie loved playing golf and bridge with her many friends.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, Beloit, UMW, and the Federated Quest Club.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willis Holloway, daughter Marilyn Eyler, grandson Jeff Eyler; brothers Jay and Ray Wierenga; and sisters Margueritte Miles and Louise Woolley.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her daughter Kay DeMeritt of Bozeman, Montana; one sister Lois Wise of Cawker City, one sister-in-law Barbara Wierenga of Downs; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ionia Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Charity of the Donor's Choice or the Beloit United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
