Marie Opal Miller was born October 31, 1922 to Albert Orin and Laura Etta Darling Bridges at Beloit, Kansas. She departed this life of 85 years, 2 months, and 29 days Wednesday evening, January 30, 2008 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
Marie was the second youngest and last surviving member of her large family. She was a lifetime resident of the Beloit area where she attended school.
On December 16, 1942, she was united in marriage with Anthony Wayne "Wayne" Miller at Newkirk, Oklahoma. This happy union was blessed with five children John, Sondra, Linda, Susan, and Bob.
A kind, tender hearted person, Marie focused her life on caring and providing for her family and cherished the role of homemaker. She was always 'there' for her family and loved cooking and baking for them.
Besides homemaking, Marie had a deep love and respect for nature. She loved animals; stray cats and dogs knew they were always welcome at her house. She was a member of PETA and the National Humane Society for many years. Besides animals and wildlife, Marie enjoyed gardening, and taking long walks in the great outdoors.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Beloit.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Miller, one son John Miller, two daughters Susan Metz and Linda Faiola; two brothers Anson and Joe Bridges; two sisters Myrtle Bridges, and Stella McMahan.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children Bob Miller and wife Gail of Beloit, Sondra Griffin Schimonitz of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Rev. John Grummon officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
