Marie Ida Stockman was born March 28, 1955 to Norman and Mona Orbock Griest at York, Pennsylvania and passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer in Beloit, Kansas.
She graduated from William Penn High School in York, PA in 1973 and married Ronny Dee Stockman. Marie faithfully trusted in the Lord. They moved to the Scottsville community about six years.
Marie was employed at Hilltop Lodge where she entertained residents with her piano playing and offering comfort where she could. She was a champion of the weak and infirmed, including children and the elderly. She enriched the lives of all who knew her and she will be sadly missed by her family, friends, church family and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her younger sister Nancy.
Survivors are her husband of thirty-six years, Ron, of the home near Scottsville; her father Norman Griest of Chino Valley, AZ, her mother Mona Griest of York, PA; brothers Robert Griest of Bath, United Kingdom, Andrew Griest, Chino Valley, AZ, Dewayne Griest, Phoenix, AZ; sisters Deborah Griest, Harrisburg, PA, Beverly Barrows & Patricia Cassel both of Denver, PA.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Pastors Gene Little and Josh Krohse officiating. Burial of the ashes will follow in the Scottsville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Scottsville Community Church. Marie chose cremation and there will be no visitation.
