Marjorie D. Grittman

May 5, 1937 — December 17, 2008

Marjorie D. Grittman was born May 5, 1937 to William Harrison and Della Allen Henderson at Beloit, Kansas. She departed this life of 71 years Wednesday morning, December 17, 2008 at the Mitchell County Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Beloit, Kansas.

Marjorie grew up in Downs where she attended school.

On January 8, 1955, she married Raymond L. Grittman at Beloit, Kansas. Two sons Duane and Dan were born to this union and they made their home in Beloit.

Marjorie was no stranger to work. She had a Salina Journal delivery route that initially covered 300 miles, and as time went on, her route became smaller. For several years, she enjoyed working as a general attendant at Hilltop Lodge.

Her greatest love though, was her family. She enjoyed taking care of her home for them, and especially enjoyed camping trips, often with her family along. She and Raymond camped in 49 states except Vermont as well as in Canada and Mexico. When at home, she enjoyed working with crafts and ceramics. In later years, she enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren as well as having them around.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marjorie will be deeply missed by her husband Raymond of the home, sons Duane Grittman and wife Alice of Minneapolis, Kansas, Dan Grittman and wife Wanda of Cawker City, one brother Bill Henderson of Tennessee; two sisters Luann Hamel of Hutchinson, Janet Wisehart of Downs; four grandchildren Heather Jensen, Scott Hayden, Kim Steinert, Rachel Rudd; five great grandchildren Trinity Jensen, Casen Steinert, Kyler, Keegan, and Daytona Hayden. In addition, Marjorie will be deeply missed by a host of many friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at 2;00 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, and friends may call from 9:00 AM until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
