Marjorie R. Schreuder of Cawker City was born to Vincent Kenneth and Alta Lily Hoard Linton on September 28, 1927 in Randall, Kansas. She passed away in Topeka, Kansas on December 28, 2016.
Marge grew up in Beloit, Kansas and moved to Junction City, KS attending Junction City High School for her Senior Year, graduating in 1945. That year she lived with her sister Maxine and her husband Roy Fansler. Her brothers taught Marge to be an excellent dancer, so her dance card was always full at the Fort Riley USO dances she attended with friends. On October 6, 1945, she married Merle "Dutch" Schreuder in Junction City. Three daughters Linda, Shari, and Shelley were born to this union. After their marriage, Dutch and Marge lived on farms near Cawker City and Glen Elder before moving to Cawker City in 1960. Marge lived in the same home until 2014 when she and her beloved cat G.G. moved to Topeka to be close to family.
She was the bookkeeper at the Cawker City Medical Clinic, later at the Downs Clinic before becoming the secretary at Cawker City High School in 1966. Marge continued as secretary when CCHS became Waconda East, breaking in many new principals until her retirement.
Marge was an excellent seamstress and quilter, making many clothes for herself and her daughters. There wasn't a style or design she couldn't duplicate or personalize. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts where she poured her love into every one made for her family and numerous friends. Marge was always involved in needlework and craft projects while also maintaining her yard well into her 80s.
Family was extremely important to her. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being involved in their lives.
She was admired and loved by many and will be greatly missed.
