Martha Louder Channel

Martha Rose Channel, the daughter of David and Marcellene Emmot Louder, was born October 15, 1938, on a farm south of Beloit, Kansas. She died June 15, 2008, at the Salina Regional Health Center.
Martha attended school at Beloit and Hunter. She was united in marriage with Keith Slate in 1955, and five children were born to that union. That marriage was dissolved, and Martha was later married to George Channel who preceded her in death in 2004.
Martha was raised in the Lutheran Church and later became a member of the Baptist Church in Lucas. She enjoyed quilting and attending auctions and yard sales. She ran a restaurant and worked in nursing homes through the years.
Survivors include a son, Ron Slate of Lucas; four daughters, Karolyn Sutton and husband, Ron of Sylvan Grove, Kansas, Sharon Moravits of San Antonio, Texas, Darlene Slate of Minneapolis, Kansas, and Janie Marcotte of Belleville, Kansas; a brother, David Louder, Jr. of Humbolt, Nebraska; and two sisters, Nancy Slate and Husband, Jimmy of Beloit, and Evelyn Hartman of Beloit; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Johnnie and Albert Louder; and a half-brother, Ed Louder.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 19, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit with burial at Highland Cemetery, Jamestown. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
