Martha "Marti" Wagner

Martha Jane "Marti" Wagner, age 82 of Downs, Kansas, departed this life on April 4, 2025.

Marti was born January 19, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Wilber and Hazel Walker.

A graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School, she then achieved her Master's Degree from the Kansas State Teacher's College. While teaching in Hamilton, Kansas, she met and married William R. (Smoke) Lindamood on March 20, 1970. Marti and Smoke welcomed son Thomas Walker Lindamood in 1973. After separating, Marti moved to Victoria, where she became the school librarian and met Kenneth Henry "Kenny" Wagner.

Marti and Kenny were joined in marriage on May 26, 1984 at their home in Downs. She was librarian at Tipton High School and the Downs Carnegie Library. Marti loved arts and crafts, which she shared through her store, the Lazy Daisy. First in Hamilton, then Victoria, and finally in Downs. Marti was a member of the Downs VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a lifetime member of the Greenwood County Historical Society, and the Kansas Historical Society.

Marti was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber Walker and Hazel Walker, and her loving husband, Kenneth Wagner.

She is survived by her son, Tom Lindamood and fiancée Amy; stepchildren, Chris Wagner (Jodi), Kendra McNaul (Joe), and numerous grandchildren, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, April 9 a the Downs Christian Church. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service begins on Wednesday at the Church. Friends may also sign the book from 1-5 PM Tuesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Downs Carnegie Library or Greenwood County Historical Society.
