Marti Jean Chapman was born on December 27, 1950 in Ogallala, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles Myron and Bernice Maxine Myers Chapman. She died Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 68 after a recent diagnosis with cancer.
At a young age, she moved with her family to Beloit, where she attended school and made her permanent home. Her family raised many cats, and when she lived alone in recent years, she raised a few of her own, just recently losing her beloved Midnight.
Marti greatly loved people and was known by everyone in Beloit. Those who knew Marti, knew to expect a friendly hug and kiss. She also enjoyed doing crafts, whether it be drawing or doing ceramics, and she loved doing genealogy with her mother. Marti was also a great Bunco player, and was the reigning champion at the family's holiday get together.
She was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and loved helping with Sunday School.
Marti was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Douglas.
She is survived by her Aunt Margie Clark of Beloit; cousins, Fred (Betty) Chapman, Shirley Bouchek, Jay Lispi, Janice Lispi, Christine Lispi, Lori (Brad) Briggs, Joni (Curt) Wolters, and Kathi (Don) Hilliard; her OCCK family; and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 5 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Monday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to OCCK, Solomon Valley Hospice, or the Church.
