Mary Dillon

Mary Rose Dillon was born on February 9, 1916 on the family farm near Cawker City, Kansas, the daughter of Frederick and Laura Megli Boehner. She died Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 103.

Mary grew up and attended school in the Cawker City area, and later graduated from Cawker City High School. She went on to Ft. Hays, where she earned her Normal Teacher training, and came back to the Cawker City area to teach in a one-room schoolhouse.

On June 6, 1937, she was united in marriage with Kenneth "Elwood" Harrison. Two sons were born to this union, Darryl and Delton. In 1972, they moved to Colorado Springs, where she did mission work on the Navajo Indian Reservation, and later moved back to Lebanon in 1979. They were privileged to spend more than 53 years of marriage together until his death in February 1991.

She later married Walter Dillon on July 10, 1993, and were married for 11 years before his passing.

Mary moved to Superior in 2006, and a few years later, moved to Beloit, where she lived in the assisted living apartments before moving into the nursing home.

In her spare time, she loved to crochet, knit, sew, and make quilts for her neighbors, friends, and family members. She was also very involved with the Women's Missionary Society.

In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Mary is survived by her sons, Darryl and his wife Eleanor Harrison of Colorado Springs, and Delton of Lebanon; 4 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 12 at the Glen Elder Friends Church. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Monday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Friends Church.
