Mary L. Keck

August 2, 1953 — August 26, 2015

Mary Louise Keck was born August 2, 1953 to Otis Raymond and Genevieve L. Gable Niskern at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her Heavenly release from a lengthy illness came Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas. She recently celebrated her 62nd birthday.

Mary grew up and lived a considerable portion of her short life in Lawton, Oklahoma. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

It was on June 27, 1992 that she married Reverend Bruce Wayne Keck in Lawton, Oklahoma. They lived in Lawton and later moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where he was the pastor a Lutheran church. They moved to Beloit, Kansas in 2002.

A quiet, very pleasant, and methodical person, Mary had a keen mind for mathematics and a special knack for teaching it. She loved teaching, taught advanced mathematics courses, and after moving to Beloit, she taught junior high math at Beloit Jr. Sr. High School until August, 2009.

Besides teaching, Mary loved the basics of life. She was very close to her son David and enjoyed seeing him whenever possible. She loved music, reading, and had great appreciation for art. Mary also treasured the company and companionship of dogs.

At an early age, Mary was baptized into Christ in the Lutheran Church. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Her father preceded her in death.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Reverend Bruce W. Keck of Beloit; her son David Petermann and companion Stephanie of Dallas, Texas; her step-mother Jeney Niskern of Lawton, Oklahoma; one brother Dennis Niskern of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the service. Memorials may be given to the church or to Solomon valley Hospice. Mary will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
