Mary E. Mcclintock

Mary Eloise McClintock was born on October 1, 1925 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Clemens Leroy and Emily Holbrook Harris. She died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 6 days.

Mary grew up and attended schools in the Beloit area before graduating from Beloit High School in 1943.

She worked at the S&S Drug Store as a clerk, while also clerking at the old Scotts Store. She became the assistant secretary for the Chamber of Commerce and the Mitchell County Credit Association. She also worked as a bookkeeper for R&M Auto Parts for a couple of years.

While in high school, she met Duane D. McClintock and they were married December 8, 1946 at the Beloit First Christian Church. They were the proud parents of one daughter Marcia. They were privileged to spend more than 65 years of marriage together until Duane died in August 2010.

After their marriage, they made their home on a farm in the Green Mound community. They were both faithful members of the Beloit First Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of the Coursen Grove EHU, and held all the offices. She also belonged to the TPM Club and the Athene Federated Club. She served as a director on the Mitchell County Fair Board for 9 years, and was a leader in the Triangle Booster 4-H Club for 10 years. She was also a charter member of the Mitchell County Hospital Auxiliary.

Mary enjoyed cooking and decorating cakes. She gave many cake decorating demonstrations and taught many children at the Beloit Elementary School how to mold mints and decorate cupcakes.

In addition to her husband Duane, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Marcia Davis and her husband Gary of Wichita; one sister, Charlotte Means of Manhattan, Kansas; three grandchildren, Heather Schrotberger and husband Mike, Hilary Koehn and husband Joshua, and Brandon Davis; four great grandchildren, Fern and Iris Schrotberger, and Ethan and Julia Koehn; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 10 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Green Mound Cemetery near Asherville. Memorials may be given to the Beloit First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM.
