Maxine Hoffman

Maxine Hoffman was born on November 4, 1912 on a farm near Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Elizabeth A. Falkenrich and Homer M. Hofmann. She died Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 93 years.
She was married to William C. Hoffman on April 26, 1941.
A native of Manhattan, she received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Kansas State University. She had served as an Extension Home Economist and had also been an elementary school teacher.
In 1957, she went to Fort Hays State University, where she taught for 20 years. The last seven years she served as a department chairperson.
She moved to Simpson after she retired, where she was a charter member of the Pride Committee, and for several years, she served as the librarian of the Pride Library.
In 1973, she was listed in "Who's Who of American Women", and in 1979, she received the Pilot Award, presented by the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association.
Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beloit, as well as a member of one of the UMW circles. She was also a member of the Simpson Senior Citizens, the Kansas and American Home Economics Association, as well as the National and Kansas Vocational Home Economics Association.
Honors she received included membership in Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Nu, Kappa Omicron Phi, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William C. Hoffman; and a sister, Irene Davidson.
She is survived by two nephews, William A. Davidson and his wife Becky of Glasco and Homer M. Davidson and his wife Barbara of St. Joseph, Missouri; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 PM Saturday, December 3, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Memorials may be given to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. There will be no visitation-her body was bequeathed to the University of Kansas Medical Center.
