Melvin Seehafer, 94, passed away November 19, 2020 at Hilltop Lodge, Beloit, KS. He was born October 27, 1926 at home east of Hunter to Otto W and Hattie Remus Seehafer.
He married Eldora Gallion on April 13, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Hunter, KS. Two sons were born to this union, Galen and Rod. Melvin and Eldora were married for 66 ½ happy years.
Melvin was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hunter, KS. He was baptized on October 16, 1927 and confirmed March 29, 1942. He held many offices in the church and is the last of the church builders to pass away. Melvin graduated from Gravatte Grade School and Hunter High School.
Melvin was a farmer all his life, enjoyed coyote hunting, boating, visiting with anyone, and following his grandchildren's activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Eldora, granddaughter Shannon, and sister Ila Ferne Streit Nelson.
Survivors include; sons, Galen (Marilyn) and Rod (Janet) both of Hunter. Grandchildren: Megan, Jefferson City, MO; Sabrina, Ankeny, Iowa; Jason (Darci) and Mary (Zach Hlad) both of Hunter, KS. Great grandchildren: Nash, Briggs, Lennox, Kelvi Seehafer and Cason, Camden and Witten Hlad. Sister-in-law: Doris Gallion. Nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Family-only memorial services will be at 2 PM on Monday, November 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter, but will be live-streamed to the public on the Church Facebook Page. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
