Michael "Mike" Eugene Evans was born on November 22, 1946 in Santa Cruz, California, the son of Robert and Elaine Hinckley Evans. He died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Mike as he was known, was born in California, and his family later moved to Omaha, where he began his schooling, before moving to Belleville, Kansas, where he attended high school. Following high school, Mike attended the Vo-Tech College in Beloit.
On June 4, 1967, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Shull in Beloit. Two children were born to this union, and they were privileged to be married for nearly 50 years.
In 1967, Mike went to serve the United States in the Navy, mainly in Mayport and Key West, Florida. During his service he traveled extensively.
Following his service, the family returned to Beloit, where he worked with Marilyn's father in the radiator shop. He also served as a school custodian for many years with Beloit schools, where he retired to pursue his passion for his love of the outdoors by becoming a guide.
He had a strong faith in God, and was a Christian man.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Brittany Bretthauer; daughter-in-law, Lonni Evans; and brothers-in-law, Alan Shull and Dennis Williams.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; son, Shane and his wife Mary of Fayetteville, North Carolina; daughter, Shannon and her husband Ray Bretthauer of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Georgianne Williams of Fischers, Indiana; brother Dennis and his wife Sherry of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Karen Sanders of Canyon Lake, Texas; seven grandchildren, Victoria and Anthony Bretthauer, Jeanie and Wyatt Evans, and Sampson, Landon, and Cooper Edwards; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, March 14 at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Cremation was chosen & there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Church or Family Choice.
