Mildred Maxine Bohnert was born on January 24, 1922 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Lela Wicks Caselman. She died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
Mildred grew up and attended schools in Beloit, where she graduated from Beloit High School.
On July 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Edward L. Sprenger at Concordia. To this union was born one child, Shirley. They lived on a farm west of Jewell after his military service until 1973, when they moved to Beloit. They were privileged to spend more than 41 years of marriage together until he died in October, 1983.
Mildred later married Fred Bohnert in 1991 until he died in August, 1997.
She worked for Wichers' Color Corporation for more than 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and frequently took trips to Estes Park, as well as Italy and Hawaii. She also enjoyed playing pinochle with friends and family, and greatly loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands Edward and Fred, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, Robin; brother Max Caselman; and sisters Martha in infancy and Marjorie Lattin.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Shirley Wessling and husband Jerry of Beloit; sister, Marlene Fether of Goddard; four grandchildren, Jeff and wife Jenny Wessling of Beloit, Jim and wife Rhonda Wessling of Ottumwa, IA, Marcie and husband Ric Schweitzer of Parker, CO, and Monte and wife Nathalie Wessling of Beloit; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
