Mildred Ruth Peterson

Mildred Ruth Peterson, age 92, of Beloit died Wednesday, December 30, 2009.

Mildred was born on November 18, 1917, in Formoso, Kansas, to Charles Emory and Nettie Merle Ellsworth Doxon. She married her husband, Francis D. Peterson on May 16, 1943, in Formoso. A teacher for 50 years, she taught in many Kansas counties, including Jewell, Saline, Lincoln, Ellis, Osborne, Republic, and Mitchell. She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Business and Professional Women's Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Kansas National Education Association. She also volunteered many years at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Beloit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, and daughter, Davida Branda.

She is survived by her brother, John and Venda Leigh Doxon, two sons Michael and Cindy Peterson of Salina, Jerry and Patti Peterson of Lee's Summit, MO; and daughter, Sherry and Robert Snyder of Beloit. Her ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren include: Tammy and Alan Weinbrenner and children Sheridan, Tristan, and Jameson; Matthew and Stacey Peterson and daughter Molly; Dina and Derek Budke and son Landon; Cara and Jeff Conaway and children Travis, Breanna, and Nathan; Heather Peterson and daughter Jessica; Travis Peterson; Donald and Jennifer Snyder; Aaron and Kim Snyder and children Kayley, Brittney, and Bryce; Mindy Snyder and son Parker; Hannah Snyder.

Memorials may be given to the Francis Peterson Farm Mechanics Scholarship Fund at the North Central Kansas Technical School in Beloit.

Pastor Glenn Fogo of Beloit's First United Methodist Church will officiate at Funeral Services which will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 4, 2010 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Mildred will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
