Miles Elden "Tuffy" File was born February 17, 1927 to Joe and Mabel Stilley File on the family farm in Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 89 years on November 27, 2016 peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Tuffy graduated from Beloit High School in 1945. He then enlisted in the US Army and served in World War II in the European Theater as a grade TEC5. He was privileged to attend the Nuremberg trials. He was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1946 and became a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. Tuffy was a life member of ISIS Shriners. He was the last surviving charter member of the Beloit Country Club. He also was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Tuffy was a proud steward of the land successfully farming and ranching for his entire life. He took pride in his community and was an honest, caring, and giving man. He had a huge heart. His greatest love was his family and friends. His joy in life was making people happy and would do anything possible for everyone to have a good time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Duane "Bud" File. Survivors include his partner Janet Snedden, son David File of San Diego, CA, daughter Lisa Randel of Peoria, AZ, grandson Collin Randel of Peoria, AZ, sister Josephine Hartman and sister-in-law Bonnie File, both of Beloit, and countless friends. He will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, December 1 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-8 PM with family present from 6-7:30 PM Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation.
