Milton I. Rasdall was born June 13, 1927 in Greenleaf, Kansas to John Franklin and Ruby Alleen (Bell) Rasdall, the fourth of five children. He died on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
He attended schools in Atchison, Mankato, and Beloit. At the age of 40 years old, Milton received his GED at Concordia, Kansas. Another accomplishment at a later age than most was learning to play the piano.
He was in the military service of the Army for two years in Washington, DC, and South Post of Ft. Myers, Virginia, where he ran the movie projector for TOP SECRET films for the Pentagon.
Milton was the theater manager for several towns in Missouri and Kansas. In 1957 he began work at Sunflower Manufacturing Company as lathe operator, truck driver, and whatever was needed for 23 years. He retired in 1981 as purchasing agent, vice president, and one of the owners.
He belonged to several committees at the United Methodist Chruch, and was Trustees Treasurer for over 14 years.
Milton and Phyllis Marie Hazen were married on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1949, because Easter meant new beginnings. They just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Their two daughters are Susan (Harold) Vignery of Salina and Janet Wenger (Delaine) of Powhattan, Kansas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Ollenberger of Salina, Michelle Vignery of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Matthew (Carla) Wenger of Fairview, Kansas, and Marc (Katie) Wenger of Olathe, Kansas; 5 great grandchildren, David, Adeline, Ian, Kennedie, and Jackson; one sister, Alberta Melton of Beloit; and one brother, Leon Rasdall of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joel Levi Vignery; and his brothers, Vincil and Frank Rasdall.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, May 11, at the Beloit United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be given to the church, The American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation.
