Nevada Lucerne Vetter was born December 9, 1928 to Henry and Gertrude Bealby Beisner at Natoma, Kansas. She died late Monday evening, March 13, 2017 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 88 years.
Nevada grew up in the Natoma community and graduated from Natoma High School. She attended the Beauty Academy in Salina, Kansas and worked as a beautician.
It was on August 20, 1950 that she married Clifford Earl Vetter at the home of the bride in Natoma, Kansas. Four children Vickie, Elaine, Nancy, and Phil were born to this happy union.
Together, Nevada and Clifford enjoyed a successful life on the farm north of Randall, Kansas. She owned the beauty salon in Jewell for a time before her marriage, and used the proceeds from the sale of the shop to purchase their first three bottom plow. Always up for a project, Nevada kept their farmstead in pristine condition through mowing and trimming, painting and doing whatever repair work needed to be done. This came naturally to her as her father was a carpenter. Eager to work, Nevada was there to get the job done. Clifford had the vision and Nevada made it happen.
A woman of endless energy, Nevada was busy all the time. She loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. Her first passion was sewing. She loved crocheting, quilting, knitting, painting, wallpapering, and traveling; even from the Mitchell County Hospital ICU to a Lutheran Women's Meeting in North Carolina. Nevada did it, and with class.
Nevada was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. Any time something needed to be done at the church, Nevada was there to help do it. She served in countless capacities including the Women of the ELCA. Making blankets for Lutheran World Relief was her latest passion. Nevada will be deeply missed for her many contributions.
In addition, Nevada was a member of the Randall Progressive Study Club for 50 years, Paradise Club, DD Bridge Club, Randall Senior Citizens, and the Randall Quilting Group.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Norene Muir, Norva Doty and Naida Paschal; granddaughter Peggy Peters and great grandson Cayden Dunstan.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband Clifford of the home, children Vickie Fenner and husband Scott of Conway, AR, Elaine Peters and husband Dan of Randall, Nancy Buser and husband Bill of Jewell, Phil Vetter and wife Kristi of Randall; two sisters-in-law Bonnie Vetter of Beloit, Elsie Vetter of Wahoo, NE; one brother-in-law Jim Paschal of Lindsborg, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Historical Society or the Zion Lutheran Church Landscape Fund. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
