Noel Jay

James Noel Jay was born March 17, 1926 in Marian County, Arkansas, the son of Author Dennis and Anna (Thomas) Jay. He was the sixth son of eleven children. He passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Hutchinson Hospital at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 27 days.
Noel was united in marriage to Eunice Eileen Bohannon on November 4, 1943 in Harrison, Arkansas. To this union four children, James Harold Jay, Linda Kay (Jay) Hoffman, Patricia Gayle Jay, and Joleen Jay were born.
Noel traveled a lot while working in Missouri, Kansas, and California. He settled in Kansas, working as a farmhand for 10 years for the Thiessen brothers and Sunflower Manufacturing for 15 years as the set-up foreman until he hurt his back and was disabled.
Noel enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting and fishing. He had great faith in God, and passed it on to his children.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Gayle Jay; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice of the home; one son, James Harold Jay and wife, Linda of Glen Elder; two daughters, Linda Kay Hoffman and husband, Kenley of Tipton, and Joleen Jay of the home; a brother, Charles Ivan and his wife, Norma of Yates Center; and two sisters, Maudeva Sims of Springfield, Missouri, and Nadine Eden of Verona, Missouri.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 18, at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Beloit with burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Glen Elder. Memorials may be given to the church or O.C.C.K. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit.
